While a beautiful feature, it is important to avoid selecting cabinetry that will weigh down the space. One idea that helps to provide a balanced look is a stacked cabinet. Here are some rules of thumb for stacked kitchen cabinets and insights from <a href=\"\/team\/laura-barber\">Normandy Designer Laura Barber<\/a> on this particular design decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA common design request is for cabinetry that extends close to the ceiling with crown molding,\u201d said Laura. \u201cHowever, when you have a 9 foot ceiling, that style can look heavy and overbearing within the room. A stacked kitchen cabinet helps to break up the heaviness of the cabinets, while still providing practical storage space.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-32479\" src=\"https:\/\/normandyremodeling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/DSC_0812-web.jpg\" alt=\"Glass front cabinets that go down to the counter\" width=\"234\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/normandyremodeling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/DSC_0812-web.jpg 401w, https:\/\/normandyremodeling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/DSC_0812-web-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/>When stacking cabinets, there are plenty of ways to dictate the overall aesthetic. \u201cA lot of times people want the practical storage of closed cabinets, but prefer the lightness of glass,\u201d noted Laura. \u201cWith a stacked cabinet you can have the best of both worlds.
