\u201cPeople are embracing modern farmhouse because they want a clean, modern space that still feels warm and homey,\u201d Normandy Designer Laura Barber<\/a> says. \u201cDetails like the stone wall and rustic beams nod to the style, but this design can fit into many types of homes without feeling too themed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rather than the bronze finishes often associated with modern farmhouse kitchens, this space boasts a custom stainless-steel hood<\/a> with polished nickel strapping, mixing matte and polished finishes for depth. The refrigerator and upper hutch cabinets feature polished nickel mesh panels, adding subtle texture and shine.\"Modern Textured German antique glass, rift cut white oak cabinet interiors and integrated lighting add contrast and create a warm display area in the adjacent cabinets, accented by wood grain porcelain floor tile in a herringbone pattern.<\/p>\n

The three-tone cabinetry palette includes rift cut white oak<\/a> paired with frost white and soft gray painted finishes, creating gentle contrast. \u201cThe Zellige tile<\/a> on the range wall creates a monochromatic look but still has some grays and beige that adds subtle interest, providing a nice backdrop for the polished nickel pot filler,\u201d Laura says. Even the slim backsplash ledge was intentional. \u201cThe ledge<\/a> adds dimension and is also a convenient spot for a phone or recipe while cooking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Natural stone countertops bring in movement with bronze veining, balanced by black accents on the pendant lights above.\"Modern \u201cQuartzite brings both organic beauty and durability for a busy kitchen,\u201d Laura adds. \u201cAnd mixing hardware styles and finishes keeps a room from feeling flat.\u201d<\/p>\n

The island was designed for a tighter footprint while maximizing function. It features a baking center<\/a> with a pull-out bread drawer and mixer lift. \u201cI wanted a compelling visual on the front of the island,\u201d Laura says about the faux drawer fa\u00e7ade. \u201cThe cabinets open to reveal 4-inch shallow storage shelves that can store anything from a bottle of olive oil to tea.\u201d<\/p>\n

A custom beverage hutch with decorative feet and bi-fold pocket doors offers flexibility for daily use or entertaining. \u201cYou can keep it open as a hosting hub<\/a> or closed when you want a cleaner look,\u201d Laura says. \u201cIt\u2019s effectively an upscale appliance garage that doubles as a coffee or wine bar, and features a warming drawer as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
